Tonight, October 1st at 6:30 PM, listen along as Matt Sobb hosts a feature interview with Angelica Jones on her new album, The Whammy. They’re diving deep into the creative process behind many of the new tracks!
Listen live at CKCU 93.1 FM in Ottawa or listen anytime on the CKCU website.
This album runs the full gauntlet of storytelling and emotion. There’s loss and resilience in “One More Night to Come,” a reckoning with mental health in “Getting Stronger,” and a clear-eyed look at a world where the powerful keep trying to misdirect your attention with lies in “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.” “Waiting at the Bar” is a reminder that everyone’s got a song in their heart waiting to be sung, while “My Beating Heart” is a rockin’ love song for a rock-solid love story — and “Spell on You” puts the whammy on a lover who’s already spellbound.
From taking chances in “Ride the Lightning” to soaking up the simple, awesome things in life on “Christmas & Doobies,” this album covers real ground. Whether you’re in the mood for soulful grooves or driving with the windows down and the music cranked, The Whammy has exactly what you need.
LET’S CELEBRATE!

Based out of London, Ontario, The Joel Dupuis Band (Awarded London blues band of the year 2024 and guitar player of the year 2024) is an electrifying three-piece band that gives an energetic performance, and a straight shot of pure, no filler, rocking blues in the form of soulful originals as well as an original take on old favourites.
At just 23 years of age, Joel Dupuis has released his debut album, “Very Best Fool,” and has seen his songs consistently chart on the Roots Music Report. As well, he regularly plays all over the Southern Ontario music scene. In January 2025, he represented the Canada South Blues Society (Windsor) in Memphis, TN, playing at the IBC. He has opened up for acts such as Big Wreck and David Wilcox and shared stages with the likes of Scott Holt (current frontman of Foghat), The Cashbox Kings (top 10 blues album of the year 2017), JW-Jones (JUNO Nominee) and Pat Harrington (Victor Wainwright and The Train, Grammy nominee), to mention just a few. He has also toured across Southern Ontario and Quebec as a member of Ghost Town Blues Band out of Memphis, Tennessee (#1 Billboard Blues Album 2019, B.B. King International entertainer of the year).
Two powerful acts. One night. Expect fiery solos, deep grooves, and an electrifying start to 2026.

A Big thank you to the Toronto Blues Society for continuing to stage this important concert series and most of all, to the audience. We truly shared something special together.
